Candidate Resources

British American Household Staffing Strives To Find Roles For Candidates Which Are Likely To Result In Long-Term Job Fulfillment.

This is achieved through a careful understanding of candidates’ career history and aspirations.

All potential candidates are carefully interviewed and vetted by the BAHS team to ensure we are in a position to offer clients high quality and experienced household staff. We advertise widely in newspapers (both mass circulation and local publications) as well as specialist career websites (including CareerBuilder, Idealist, and Monster).

Household agencies often have access to the best jobs, can help negotiate salaries and benefits on your behalf, and offer resources to help guide you through the interview process.

General FAQS For Candidates

  • Why should I register with BAHS?

Our whole team works collaboratively! Instead of being represented by one individual recruiter, BAHS candidates are considered for all roles being worked by our team. Candidates’ profiles can be viewed by our whole team – if you provide an update, a reference, or a question, we all see it and can take it into consideration for your candidacy. There’s no worry of repeating yourself or having references called redundantly.

Many agencies have candidates work exclusively with one recruiter, which narrows job opportunities. Being considered for all our job openings increases the chances of finding the perfect fit

  • Do we owe you a fee for registering with the agency?

No, using our service is free of charge for the applicant.

  • How long will it take to find a position with BAHS?

This varies from applicant to applicant. All positions are competitive, and it can take some time to find the right fit. Please be assured that we are doing everything we can to help you find the right family based on your experience and qualifications.

The process can take from a week to several months. We recommend that you go on our website regularly to check what positions we have available. If there is anything that matches your qualifications, please apply.

  • Is it guaranteed that I will find a position with BAHS?

Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that we can match you with a family. We will do everything we can to find you a position that suits your needs. However, it is always up to the family who they choose to interview with and to hire.

  • How do I apply for positions online?

Go to Apply for a Job and log in with your email and the password you created when you set up your profile. Once you are logged in, you can see the positions we have available and apply directly.

Please note that resumes can only be uploaded in doc/docs formats. Our software does NOT accept pdfs.

  • Why am I not being notified about jobs local to me?

Have you moved? In recent years we have had so many candidates relocate to other states and cities but have not updated their resumes or contact information. We use this information to tailor our job notifications – please log into your account and verify that all your information is up to date. Please drop us a line as well!

  • How do I create a new password?

If you do not remember your password, please click the “forgot password” tab, and enter your email address. You will receive a password reset link which will allow you to create a new password of your choice.

  • What if I do not hear from BAHS for sometime and fear that I have been overlooked?

Although we do our best to provide each applicant our feedback, we are unable to respond to everyone. In most cases, the main reason you have not heard from us is because of any one, or a combination of the following:

    1. You may be applying for positions that require more experience than you currently have.

    2. You may be applying for various roles that are outside of your normal role of experience.

    3. You may be applying for positions that require a specific qualification such as a CPR certificate, valid driver’s license, a doula certification, etc. that you currently do not possess.

    4. Your resume does not support or prove that you are qualified for the positions for which you have applied.
