About BAHS
British American Household Staffing has been placing top-tier, thoroughly vetted household professionals in the homes of discerning families since 2012. Founded by Anita Rogers, BAHS was built on a simple but uncompromising belief: that the people who work in your home should be the very best — in experience, in character, and in discretion.
Over the years, BAHS has expanded its services to include eldercare and companion care, bringing the same standards of excellence to one of the most sensitive and personal hires a family can make. With offices across the US, UK, and internationally, including New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami, London, and Dubai, BAHS works with families both domestically and globally.
Why work with a domestic staffing agency for eldercare
Choosing the right support for an aging loved one can feel overwhelming, particularly when care needs are evolving. Working with a trusted domestic staffing agency can provide guidance, structure, and peace of mind throughout the process.
A more personalized approach to eldercare
Finding the right caregiver for an elderly loved one is a deeply personal decision. The person you bring into their home will be trusted with someone you love, present during vulnerable moments, and part of the fabric of daily life. The right caregiver can make an extraordinary difference, to your loved one, and to your whole family.
As someone who has navigated eldercare for my own parents, I know firsthand how overwhelming it can feel to find the right person. The difference a truly exceptional caregiver makes — to your loved one and to your whole family — is immeasurable. That’s why I built BAHS to the standard I would want for my own family. — Anita Rogers, Founder & CEO, BAHS
BAHS takes a holistic view of in-home care. Beyond diligently vetting experience and qualifications, our placement specialists consider personality fit, communication style, discretion, household dynamics, and long-term compatibility. This is especially important in fully-staffed homes, where caregivers work alongside estate managers, housekeepers, private chefs, chauffeurs, and more. Our team understands these dynamics and recommends candidates who will integrate seamlessly into your household from day one.

Our vetting process
Vetting at BAHS is carried out by both our talent acquisition team and our senior placement specialists. We independently verify every candidate’s employment history and personally speak to a minimum of three references, rather than relying on letters alone. Background checks and online and social media searches are also a standard part of our screening process.
We’ve caught inconsistencies in dates and references that didn’t check out the way they should have. It’s not about being suspicious, it’s about being thorough. Our families are trusting us with their most vulnerable moments, and that trust starts with getting the details right. — Liz Hankins, Director of Talent Acquisition
The risks of unvetted hiring
According to the CDC, medication misuse, abuse, neglect, and exploitation are experienced by approximately 1 in 10 older adults living at home. Elder abuse is most commonly perpetrated by someone known to the client, including, in some cases, by a caregiver.
Hiring privately, through informal platforms, or based on a personal referral alone carries real risks. Elderly individuals receiving care may be physically frail, cognitively vulnerable, or both, and without rigorous screening, there is no reliable way to verify a candidate’s background, experience, or references.
Working with a reputable domestic staffing agency like British American Household Staffing (BAHS) ensures every candidate has been thoroughly screened, references verified, and employment history confirmed before they are ever presented to a family. You’ll have the opportunity to meet several hand-picked, vetted candidates and run trial periods before making any commitment.
Flexible caregiver options
BAHS offers a wide range of in-home elderly care solutions tailored to each family’s needs. We place companion caregivers, Home Health Aides (HHAs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), Registered Nurses (RNs), and specialized caregivers with experience in dementia care, post-surgical recovery, chronic illness management, and more. Learn more about the different caregiver and care options here. (link to section)
We also assist with a variety of scheduling structures (link to section), including daily care, live-in care, 24-hour coverage, temporary placements, transitional support, rotating shifts, and long-term arrangements.
For elderly care, we also know that needs change over time. The companion you hire today may need to take on a greater level of care in the months and years ahead and adjustments to schedules, or additional support may need to be introduced. We approach placements with this in mind, and we remain a resource for your family for as long as you need us.
Avoiding caregiver burnout
A consistent schedule, fair compensation, clear expectations, and appropriate breaks and holidays can help prevent burnout in eldercare staff. These measures also protect the quality of care your elderly loved one receives and support the longevity of the relationship. BAHS can provide guidance on caregiving best practices, helping create sustainable care arrangements that support caregivers and loved ones alike.
For families who are themselves providing care, knowing when to ask for help is equally important to prevent burnout. Bringing in professional in-home support can make a meaningful difference to the well-being of everyone involved.
